Drake's attempt to kiss Rihanna at the VMAs didn't work work work work work

It was the night of the 2016 VMAs, and to Drake, that could only mean one thing -- time to worship Rihanna, so a pretty typical Sunday.

He stayed hidden all evening -- despite winning an award for "Hotline Bling," the biggest video of his career -- until it was time to present Rihanna with the Video Vanguard award.

"She is someone I have been in love with since I was 22 years old," confessed Drake, tears is his eyes. Dude, we know.

It was all going very well, and then he went in for the kiss.

RiRi made some quick banter at the microphone while she processed what just happened, and then delivered a moving acceptance speech.

Well, we probably could have predicted this based on that billboard he took out for her.
